Cologne Cathedral one of the most significant examples of Gothic architecture, it takes 632 tears to complete this priceless complex and another interesting fact that I learn during my trip was restoration of the cathedral never ends because it is produced with such a fine workmanship that the first part of the restoration needs restoration when everything is over. If the characteristics of Gothic art are to be studied, the most important feature of the architectural structures realized with this style of art is that these structures are sharp, The use of the pointed arches attracted attention in the interior of the Gothic Architecture. The pointed arches are equally practical and decorative; this technique allow to cathedral to use glasses because the load bearing mission taken by the walls with the arches. When I entered the cathedral I realize that I realize that the roof is open and height is too much of course there are some load carrying columns interior of the cathedral still we can fell this holy sense interior of the Cologne cathedral. Also two of the most impressive thing in that cathedral was colorful glasses and cathedral bell.
The lodges on the roof, which resemble arrows, constitute another important feature in this style. The sculptures made in the Gothic style remind of a characteristic of early Christianity. While the sculptors are sculpting in gothic style, they have held the frontline to present a visual gift to the believers. Another characteristic of Gothic Architecture was the statue in the form of a creature. These figurines, which were conceived by the rattlesnake or the trenches, provided a decorative appearance. The purpose of using these statues was to drain the water that accumulated on the roof from their mouths. So the water did not pour into the ground strongly, flowing slowly from the mouth of the figurines. Other crucial examples of Gothic architecture in Germany are Aachen Cathedral, St. Martin’s church and Frankfurt Cathedral.
